 Japanese Embassy Hostage Crisis Ends in Lima, Peru (1997)The Japanese ambassador to Peru was holding a party at his home in Lima on December 17, 1996, when 14 members of a revolutionary militant group stormed the compound, taking more than 400 guests hostage. Most were released in the following weeks, but 72 Japanese and Peruvian hostages were held until April, when Peruvian military forces swarmed the building and killed the militants. ReplyDeleteNeither is in Seattle. They were both taken during our trip to Ecuador on separate occasions. The first was just North of the city where we went swimming in a river one day and the other was outside the house one evening. It was still sort of raining and the sun was sort of peaking out and VOILA!!!!! Rainbow!

We are finally getting some summer (or at least what they call summer out here) weather and we are having a blast.
